Well, we made it through Ike. I am updating as quickly as I can while on generator power. Our friend JSue will update any additional info through the comments section, so check there too for updates.
We really didn't have any damage to our house. We had a small leak in the bathroom over the exhaust fan, but nothing serious. Our neighbor at the end of the cul-de-sac lost the back part of the roof and their 2-story ceiling in their living room, and their pool overflowed with all of the rain we had. There were several downed trees in the neighborhood, but for the most part, our street fared pretty well. We have been without power since 2:30 am on Sat morning. Yesterday, Mr. TD met his parents halfway and picked up their generator, so we have power to cool our refrigerator. I am posting a few pictures of what our street looked like right after the storm, and then some of the kids playing after the storm.
Our friends, the DeCarlo's are still in the hospital. They also did very well through the storm. They never lost power. Justin is doing well. He still has his chest tube and is still not eating well. And as anyone who has ever been in the hospital knows, they aren't getting much sleep because of all of the nightly interruptions. Their house did well to. No damage there either. Their neighborhood had a lot of trees down, about 3-5 trees per street we passed.
We have no idea when we may get power back, we have heard anything from a few days to a few weeks. Either way, I think we'll do fine with the generator, as long as we don't run out of fuel. We also had a cool front come through which is helping greatly too. It was down into the mid to upper 60s last night and our high today is supposed to be in the low 80s. This will keep us from having to run the window unit to stay cool, but we have it if we need it.
All in all we are doing well. We won't have internet for long, so I will check back as I can. If you want to check up on us, call our home phone. Our cells aren't getting much service, and it's not great when we do get it.
Here are the pictures I promised!
